Miss Paraw Regatta Candidates Officially Presented as Cultural Ambassadress

Miss Paraw Regatta 2016 candidates led by its reigning 2015 queen and  Miss Philippines Earth Eco-Tourism 2015, Jona Sweett had an official courtesy call to Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog in the morning of Feb. 8, 2016. The candidates were presented in front of the Iloilo City Hall, making them the official cultural ambassadress of Iloilo City and Western Visayas where the Paraw Regatta Festival originated as the oldest sailboat race in Southeast Asia. Last year, Sweett, a representative of the Province of Aklan was crowned as Miss Paraw Regatta - Earth Iloilo City who represented the City of Iloilo in the Miss Philippines Earth and won the runner-up title as Miss Philippines Earth Eco-Tourism.
It is the first time that a Miss Paraw Regatta title holder won a prestigious national pageant crown. Later in 2015, two other Miss Paraw Regatta Runner-ups, Angela Yagaya (Miss Paraw Regatta - Aliwan) landed in the Top 10 of Aliwan Festival Queen and Miss Bikini Philippines, and Jay Roxanne Divinagracia (Miss Paraw Regatta Earth Iloilo Province) won as Miss Filipinas Heritage - Culture 2015, making a record as the first three Miss Paraw Regatta winners who made an impact in various national pageants in a year.
This year, 24 gorgeous hopefuls candidates coming from various provinces in the region are vying to win the crown and runner-up titles of Miss Paraw Regatta 2016 that will be sent to national beauty pageants to bring honor for Western Visayas.  Find out who will emerged victorious in the Grand Coronation Night on Feb. 19, 6PM at WVSU Cultural Center.
